This app ships with a production AI agent — permission-aware, tenant-scoped, audit-logged, and governed by the Agent Development Lifecycle.
Meal Compliance AI
Meal-period attestation for regulated states. Audit-ready.
Overview
Meal Compliance links employee meal break behavior (from timesheets and attendance) with required legal documentation (waivers). With autonomous mode on, the system checks break patterns every four hours, flags behavior changes and employees waiving meals with no waiver, and — with auto-invalidation turned on — proposes retiring stale waivers for admin approval, while expiry reminders keep employees and managers ahead of renewals — turning a manual HR liability into a behavior-aware compliance safety net.
Detect meal-break patterns from clock punches, generate and e-sign voluntary meal-waiver PDFs, and surface compliance gaps where employees waive meals without an active waiver.

FAQ
Time & Attendance (and Timesheets) records the raw clock-in, clock-out, and break punches — it is the system of record for hours worked. Meal Compliance is the layer on top: it reads those meal-break punches to manage the legal paperwork, creating and tracking waivers, detecting behavior changes, and flagging compliance gaps. It never edits punches; it only consumes them.
Each shift is checked against the break rule for its location when it is clocked out, and what it finds is listed under Break Compliance. California's full rule is built in: a first meal by the end of the fifth hour, a second meal on days over ten hours, the meals an employee may waive, and a rest break for every four hours or major part of four. An administrator chooses it on the California break rule and sets break enforcement to Observing or Enforcing. Consult your own counsel on the specific state rules that apply to you.
Yes, where the state's break rule turns it on. With the rule's 1-hour premium switch on and break enforcement set to Enforcing, a missed, short or late meal break adds one hour at the employee's base rate for that day, and a missed or short rest break adds one more. Both are written to the timesheet as Missed Meal Break and Missed Rest Break and flow into the payroll report. The premium uses the base hourly rate on file.
It requires a license and is opt-in per tenant — an administrator enables it for your business from the Apps Marketplace. It is disabled by default until then.
