Why we started

A letter from the founder (optional page)

This page is optional. The letter below is fictional sample copy. Replace it with the founder's own approved words, or remove the page.

In 1998 I borrowed a bench, a few tools and a paper ledger and started repairing equipment for the people around me. I didn't set out to build a company. I set out to stop good machines being thrown away.

What surprised me was how much we kept relearning. A fix would work on Tuesday and be forgotten by Friday. So we began writing things down: where a tool returned, what a part was called, what the next person should check.

That habit is still what Northstar is. Whatever your role, I hope you leave things a little clearer for the next person than you found them.
