Northstar Family Day & Company Picnic

An afternoon of food, games and time together for Northstar employees and their families.

Sample details: Saturday, 13 June, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at a park pavilion near our main office. These are fictional example facts; each location replaces them with its own confirmed details.

Before you come

The basics for employees and the family members you bring

Who is invited

In this example, every Northstar employee may bring their household: partners, children and other family members who live with them. Frontline and office teams are welcome at the same event. Each location confirms which site is hosting and whether it runs its own picnic.

What to bring

  • Sunscreen, hats and a refillable water bottle.
  • A blanket or folding chair for the lawn area.
  • Your Northstar badge, or a note of your employee ID, so check-in takes under a minute.
  • Food allergy details for each family member, shared at check-in so the caterer can point you to safe options.

Food, games and access

  • Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices at a labeled table.
  • Lawn games, face painting and a quiet shaded activity table for younger children run all afternoon.
  • The pavilion, restrooms and main paths are step-free. A drop-off point sits beside the entrance for guests who need it.

Updates

If weather or timing changes, the event in Calendar is updated first. Check it the morning of the picnic.

Questions from families

Sample answers; each location confirms its own

Do I need to register my family?

In this example, yes: reply to the event invitation in Calendar by Friday, 5 June, with the number of adults and children, so the caterer can plan. If you cannot reply, ask your manager how to confirm headcount for your location.

Can I attend if I am scheduled to work that day?

Frontline employees on shift can join during their break and bring family for the full event. Ask your supervisor early so your team can plan coverage, and check your shift schedule for the final answer.

Is there parking and public transport?

The sample venue has free parking behind the pavilion and a bus stop a five-minute walk away. Your location confirms the real venue, parking and transit options in the Calendar event.

What happens if it rains?

In this example the picnic moves under the covered pavilion and games move indoors. If it is cancelled, the Calendar event shows that, and your manager shares the new date when it is set.

Questions and updates

Calendar is the place to check the current date, time and location. If something changes, the event there is updated first. Family attendance rules can differ by location, so confirm yours with your manager or your site's event organizer before you plan travel.
