What makes acknowledgment defensible?
A per-person, timestamped record tied to the exact version of the post, that you can export. A view count is not evidence anyone read anything.
What happens if people do not acknowledge?
Reminders go out automatically at 24 and 48 hours. If manager escalation is enabled, each pending employee's manager is notified after the escalation window so the chase does not fall entirely on the communicator.
Should every policy post require acknowledgment?
No. Reserve it for policies where you would need to prove notice. Over-using it is the fastest way to make employees click acknowledge without reading.
