Frequently asked questions

Does this satisfy the federal DVIR requirement?

Yes — covers items required by 49 CFR 396.11. Drivers must report any defect that would affect safe operation; carriers must repair or certify "no repair needed" before the next dispatch.

Do drivers need to fill this out if no defects were found?

Per 49 CFR 396.11(a)(2), yes — a "no defects" DVIR is still required after every trip. Some carriers use ELD-integrated DVIRs to streamline this.
