DHS Run-Hide-Fight + lockdown — get out if you can, hide and silence devices if you can't, fight only as last resort.

Every employee gets a seat — priced per employee in Frontline Operations, quoted with this template ready.

Rolled out to every employee at AutoZone (125,000), PetSmart (50,000+), A.S. Watson and Raley's (20,000) — and at larger retailers we are not permitted to name.

Steps

  • RUN — if you can

If a clear and safe escape path exists, leave immediately. Leave belongings behind. Help others escape if possible without putting yourself at greater risk. Keep hands visible. Call 911 once safe.

  • HIDE — if you cannot run

Lock or barricade the door. Turn off lights. Silence all devices (including vibrate). Hide behind solid objects. Stay quiet. Don’t open the door for anyone — only police identify themselves clearly.

  • FIGHT — only as last resort

If you are confronted directly, fight aggressively with whatever is available — fire extinguisher, chair, scissors. Commit fully. The objective is to stop the threat.

  • When law enforcement arrives

Drop everything. Hands visible, fingers spread. Do not run toward officers — they may be entering as the threat is unidentified. Follow all instructions immediately.

  • Post-incident

Move to designated reunification point. Identify yourself to law enforcement. Provide witness account when asked. Access employee assistance program (EAP) for counseling.
