Overview
Store Team Hub is a five-page intranet site example for the everyday information needs of frontline retail employees. Store Home acts as the orientation page, bringing together destinations for Service Standards, Merchandising, Store Safety, and Store Contacts, along with a configured news feed and references to Frontline Execution and Shifts & Scheduling. Its horizontal navigation keeps those pages visible as employees move between tasks.
The inner pages serve different purposes. Service Standards shows an explicitly fictional, observable customer-service sequence and points to a Policy Hub section for approved guidance. Merchandising explains how to check the current task and verify work in Frontline Execution rather than treating a sample display as a real assignment. Store Safety directs employees to authoritative, location- and role-appropriate materials and reminds them to use established emergency and reporting routes. Store Contacts is designed for a connected employee directory and sends schedule questions to the scheduling app.
Use this template when a retailer needs a single, navigable starting point for store resources and can identify owners and authoritative sources for the content. Before rollout, connect and test the news feed, policy sources, directory, and app destinations; replace or validate all illustrative copy; and confirm local scope and help routes. Do not use the sample steps as policy, emergency instructions, or a substitute for training. This hub is not a scheduling, task-management, or incident-reporting workflow, and it should not replace a system that employees must use to complete those actions.
Standards & compliance context
- Treat the service and merchandising sequences as fictional examples until the appropriate owners verify and approve content for the relevant locations and roles.
- The Store Safety page is a navigation aid, not emergency guidance or a substitute for applicable training, local procedures, or required reporting processes.
- Confirm that connected policies and safety materials accurately state their jurisdiction, audience, role eligibility, and effective scope before publishing.
- Check pages and connected components for WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, including keyboard operation, visible focus, readable contrast, and descriptive link text.
General regulatory context for orientation only — verify current requirements with counsel or the relevant agency before relying on this template for compliance.

Apps for store work
Use each app as the working destination for its task. Availability and access depend on Northstar’s configuration. Frontline Execution Open Frontline Execution to view and complete current execution tasks assigned to your store or role. Check the task details there for the applicable campaign, location, and due date. Shifts & Scheduling Use Shifts & Scheduling to check your schedule and shift information. For a schedule question or change, follow the process shown in the app or your location’s established guidance.
Service Standards
-
Customer service: a sample reference
Illustrative Northstar gallery content — not approved company policy. Use the sequence below as an example of clear, observable service behaviors. Replace it with Northstar-approved guidance before publishing for employees. If guidance differs by location, role, or customer situation, the authoritative source should state that scope. Where to verify: Use the connected Policy Hub section below for current, approved service policies. If the applicable policy is unavailable or its scope is unclear, ask the established store leader or support route rather than treating this sample as authoritative.
-
Example service sequence
A practical sample for greeting, assisting, and closing an interaction. Acknowledge the customer When you are available, make eye contact, greet the customer, and offer help in a way that lets them choose whether to continue. Clarify what they need Ask a focused question, listen to the answer, and confirm the product, service, or information they are seeking. Help or make a clear handoff Provide information you can verify. If another colleague or resource is needed, explain the next step and connect the customer to that route. Close the interaction Confirm whether the customer’s question was addressed, summarize any next step, and thank them.

Merchandising
-
Merchandising direction depends on the task
Use current assignments and location-specific direction, not this fictional example, to guide store work. Campaigns, products, and store layouts can vary by location and date. Check the current assignment in Frontline Execution for the applicable task, instructions, and due date. Follow approved local guidance identified there. Fictional example only: a spring accessories display might be assigned for a front table during a campaign week. That example is not a Northstar campaign, placement instruction, or policy.
-
Sample setup and check sequence
Illustrative steps only; use the assigned task and approved local direction for actual work. Review the assignment Open Frontline Execution and confirm the task, location, due date, and any reference materials before starting. Prepare the area Check the assigned space and gather the listed materials. Keep walkways, exits, and required safety equipment unobstructed. Set up to the approved direction Arrange the display using the current task instructions for the campaign and location. Do not rely on the fictional spring display example as a layout standard. Verify and record completion Compare the finished area with the task’s stated checks, correct any visible mismatch, and record completion in Frontline Execution as directed.
-
Where the work happens
Frontline Execution Use Frontline Execution for current assigned store execution tasks. Confirm the task details and applicable location instructions in the app; this page does not replace the assignment. When direction is missing Pause before applying an uncertain or conflicting display instruction. Ask the established store leader or merchandising support route to confirm which current direction applies.
Store Safety
-
Follow your location’s approved safety procedures
This page is a route to guidance, not a substitute for local procedures or training. Store conditions and approved procedures may vary by location and work activity. Follow the procedures and training that apply to your location and role. Do not use this fictional gallery example as an emergency instruction or as a replacement for required training. For authoritative safety material available to you, use the connected Policy Hub section below. If there is an immediate hazard or emergency, follow your location’s established emergency procedure and reporting route.
- Published safety guidance
-
Use the established safety help route
This reminder is not a configured reporting channel. Before publishing, configure the organization’s actual safety reporting route and verify location-specific procedures. No contact, form, or reporting channel is assumed here. For an immediate emergency, follow the emergency procedure established for your location. For a hazard, incident, or question, use the reporting or help route established by Northstar for your store and role. If the route or applicable procedure is unclear, ask the store leader or designated safety role identified through Northstar’s approved local guidance.
Store Contacts
-
Find a store colleague or support role
Directory results depend on Northstar’s connected employee data and access configuration. Search the connected directory by name or job title to find store colleagues and relevant support roles. Before publishing, confirm that the directory includes the intended store and support contacts and that its data is current. For schedule and shift information, use Shifts & Scheduling rather than relying on this page for schedule details.
- Search the employee directory
-
Schedule and shift questions
Schedule information belongs in the scheduling app, not in a copied list on this page. Shifts & Scheduling Open Shifts & Scheduling to check your current schedule and shift information. Follow the app’s established process for schedule questions or requests; no separate contact or submission route is assumed here.
How to use this template
- Clone the five-page site and keep the Store Home, Service Standards, Merchandising, Store Safety, and Store Contacts navigation labels aligned with the destinations employees recognize.
- Assign owners for news, service policy, merchandising, safety, directory, and site maintenance, and have each owner confirm the intended employee, location, and role scope.
- Connect the Communications news source, Policy Hub materials, employee directory, and work-app destinations through the supported site setup, then test each source and access path.
- Replace fictional Northstar examples with approved content, preserving a clear distinction between guidance on this hub and authoritative task, policy, or emergency instructions.
- Ask representative store employees to find a current update, verify a service policy, locate a merchandising task, and find a colleague using the intended devices and access settings.
- Publish only after the safety route and page owners are confirmed, then review the pages when source content, apps, local guidance, or directory data changes.
Best practices
- Keep Store Home focused on choosing a destination, and put the most-used store tasks before supporting explanation.
- Label the service sequence and merchandising steps as examples until the responsible owners replace them with approved, scoped guidance.
- Use Frontline Execution as the source for current task details, campaign applicability, location instructions, and due dates rather than copying assignments onto the hub.
- Connect only safety materials that apply to the intended locations and roles, and verify that the displayed emergency and reporting route is real before publishing.
- Keep schedule information in Shifts & Scheduling instead of maintaining a second, potentially stale schedule or contact list on Store Contacts.
- Confirm the news feed's source and relevance to store employees, then check that dates and authors display as intended.
- Give each page and connected source a named organizational owner and a clear route for reporting stale or incorrect content.
- Use concise headings and descriptive links, and test keyboard access, contrast, mobile layout, and screen-reader output against WCAG 2.1 AA.

Common use cases
Frequently asked questions
Who is the Store Team Hub for, and what does it cover?
It is an orientation site for store employees who need to find updates, service guidance, merchandising direction, safety resources, work apps, or colleagues. The example contains five pages: Store Home, Service Standards, Merchandising, Store Safety, and Store Contacts. Its fictional Northstar content is a starting point, not approved company policy.
How often should the pages and connected information be reviewed?
Set a review cadence based on how quickly your store guidance and connected sources change; the template does not prescribe one. Review pages when policies, task processes, directory scope, or app destinations change, and before launching the hub to employees. Assign an owner to confirm that links and source connections still work.
Who should own and maintain this intranet site?
Assign an intranet or communications owner to maintain the site structure and connected news source. Have the relevant policy and safety owners confirm authoritative guidance, and have store operations or merchandising owners validate task references. Employees should use their established store leader or support route when local instructions are unclear.
Does the Store Safety page meet workplace safety requirements?
No template by itself establishes regulatory compliance or replaces required training, location-specific procedures, or emergency instructions. The example deliberately routes readers to authoritative safety material and the organization's established reporting and emergency procedures. Confirm applicable requirements with qualified safety and compliance owners before publishing.
Can employees follow the service and merchandising steps as written?
No; the sequences are illustrative sample content, not approved Northstar instructions. Replace or validate them against current company guidance and state any location, role, and date scope. A common pitfall is treating a plausible example as a live task or policy, so direct employees to the authoritative source for actual work.
What should we customize before rollout?
Connect the news source, Policy Hub materials, employee directory, and actual work apps using the organization's supported setup. Confirm that policy links apply to the intended locations and roles, and configure the real safety help and reporting route before publishing. Replace fictional guidance, test navigation and access, and identify a page owner and correction route.
Which integrations are included, and what requires setup?
The example includes a news feed, policy link sections, an employee directory, and references to Frontline Execution and Shifts & Scheduling. These are destinations or connected blocks, not proof that an organization has configured the corresponding sources or apps. Connect and verify each source through the site's supported setup process before relying on it.
How is this better than sending store information through separate messages?
The hub groups recurring destinations under a consistent five-page navigation tree, so employees can start from Store Home and choose a relevant page. Messages can still announce changes, but should point to one maintained authoritative page rather than reproduce policy or procedure text in multiple places. This reduces the risk of conflicting copies, provided the hub's sources and ownership stay current.
How do we make the hub accessible and useful on mobile?
Use descriptive visible link labels, a logical heading order, and concise content that puts the task or authoritative destination first. Check keyboard navigation, focus visibility, contrast, and screen-reader behavior against WCAG 2.1 AA, including the connected directory and news components. Test common employee tasks on a small screen and avoid hiding essential guidance inside long paragraphs.
