Pay Scale on Job Postings
-
Employers with 15+ employees must include the pay scale (hourly or salary range) in any job posting for a position that may ever be filled in California. The pay scale must reflect a reasonable, good-faith range for the role.
On-Request Pay Scale for Current Employees
-
Current employees may request the pay scale for the position they currently hold. The request can be made informally to HR or a manager. The company will provide the pay scale within a reasonable time.
Pay-Data Reporting
-
Employers with 100+ employees must annually report pay data by race, ethnicity, sex, and job category to the CA Civil Rights Department by the second Wednesday of May.
Recordkeeping
-
Maintain records of job titles and wage-rate history for each employee for the duration of employment plus 3 years. Records must be open for inspection by the Labor Commissioner.
