What's inside this template
Eligibility & Approval
-
Remote work is available for roles where job duties can be performed effectively from a remote location. Eligibility is determined by role and manager approval. Remote work is a privilege, not an entitlement, and may be modified or revoked based on performance, business need, or policy violation.
Hours & Availability
-
Remote employees work the standard schedule for their role unless otherwise agreed in writing. Be reachable during core hours (9 AM – 3 PM in your time zone) and respond to messages within reasonable response-time expectations for your team.
Workspace Setup
-
Maintain a dedicated workspace that is quiet, well-lit, and free from non-work distractions during working hours. Ensure the space is ergonomically suitable: appropriate chair height, monitor at eye level, and keyboard at a comfortable angle.
Equipment & Reimbursement
-
[Company] provides a laptop, monitor, keyboard, and mouse for remote employees. Stipends for home internet ($50/mo) and one-time office setup ($300) are available. Equipment remains company property; track is maintained via the IT inventory system.
Information Security
-
Use only company-issued equipment for company work. Connect to the corporate VPN when accessing internal systems. Lock your screen when stepping away. Do not save company documents to personal cloud drives. Report any suspicious access or device theft immediately.
Communication Standards
-
Be reachable on Slack/Teams during core hours. Use video for team meetings to maintain connection. Update your status when stepping away. Document key decisions in shared channels — written context replaces hallway conversations.
Performance & Productivity
-
Performance expectations are the same for remote and in-office employees. Managers conduct 1:1s at least bi-weekly. Persistent productivity concerns may result in modified arrangements or return-to-office requirements.
Home-Office Safety
-
Employees are responsible for maintaining a safe home work environment. Workplace injuries that occur in the home office during the course of employment are covered by workers’ compensation. Report any work-related injury to HR within 24 hours.
Common use cases
Frequently asked questions
What if my home internet goes down?
Contact IT immediately and notify your manager. Use a co-working space or office until restored. Persistent connectivity issues may trigger an equipment review.
How should I keep my work device secure while remote?
Use the company VPN, enable full-disk encryption, lock your screen when away, and never let family members use your work device. Report any loss or theft within 4 hours.
